Geodesy, Tectonics, and Earthquake Seismology

ERL has ongoing research in the area of geodesy and geodynamics, tectonic deformation studies, and regional seismology. Current projects include:

     • Present day kinematics and dynamics of the Eastern Mediterranean/Caucasus
     • Interactions of the Arabian, African, and Eurasian plates
     • GPS measurements of the Red Sea Rift and Jordan Transform
     • Post-seismic deformation for the 1999 Izmit/Duzce Turkey Earthquake
     • Tectonic motion of the Sinai Block
     • Combining INSAR and GPS measurements of active tectonic deformation
     • Regional seismic calibration studies
     • Grid search techniques for seismic event location and phase associations
     • New England Seismic Network (NESN)
