Most exposed rocks on the Moon are highly brecciated as a consequence billions of years of meteorite impacts. As is the case with breccias of all origins on Earth, these “impactites” are extremely difficult to date accurately and precisely. In this seminar, we will explore the nature of these complexities and learn why the application of multiple geochronometers to individual impactite samples is helping to disentangle such complexities and improve our understanding of the impact history of the Moon, a high priority for lunar science over the coming decade.
