“The promise and perils of inconstant radiative feedbacks for constraining climate sensitivity”

This talk will summarize recent advances in understanding Earth’s climate sensitivity to greenhouse gas forcing with an emphasis on what has been learned from the finding that radiative feedbacks can change with climate state and with the pattern of sea-surface temperature (i.e., pattern effects). In some ways, the inconstancy of radiative feedbacks presents a major challenge to our ability to constrain climate sensitivity (and thus future warming). In other ways, accounting for feedback changes has helped us place stronger constraints. Come join me on this rollercoaster of findings from my group and others.

[PAOCQ] PAOC Colloquium

Interdisciplinary seminar series that brings together the whole PAOC (Program in Atmospheres, Oceans, and Climate) community. Seminar topics include all research concerning the physics, chemistry, and biology of the atmospheres, oceans and climate, as well as talks about societal impacts of climatic processes.
