Even from across the Charles River, you may have seen it: MIT’s Green Building lit up with a glowing game of Tetris. On April 18th a group of MIT students re-launched the famous MIT hack that turns the windows of the building into a Tetris board just in time for Campus Preview Weekend (CPW). The hack was first performed in 2012 and, while some of the original hardware still worked as late as 2017, eventually became unplayable. The students involved spent months designing a new hardware that would last much longer.
“Among the core group, there were at least three classes dropped for this project,” one of the hackers said. “There were two-week stretches where a few members on the team didn’t sleep at all.”
There’s so much more to the story.
